About Us

Fluid Projects is a consultancy based in Calgary, AB that focuses on finding solutions to water challenges in the Energy Industry.  We help our clients navigate the complex and ever-changing landscape surrounding the permitting, storage, reuse, and disposal of water and wastewater.  From our background in regulatory, engineering, and environmental consulting, our expertise supports both the high-level planning and detailed delivery of water projects for our clients.

Richard MacDonald
M.Eng, P.Eng, PMP
Principal

Mr. MacDonald is a proven leader in the engineering consulting industry. He has over 15 years of experience and has played various roles in both small and large consultancies. He has acted as a project manager and technical lead for various multi-million dollar industrial projects throughout Western Canada. His technical expertise, which is focused in civil infrastructure projects for the Energy industry, includes: large scale water supply and storage facilities, engineered containment structures, waste management facilities (i.e. water hubs, landfills, disposal wells and waste treatment), stormwater management infrastructure and various other industrial infrastructure projects. As the co-author of a published paper relating to engineered containment and synthetic liner systems, Mr.MacDonald is recognized as a leader in the field of engineered containment design.  As of late, Mr. MacDonald has lead the development of numerous water storage hubs centered around the development of Shale Gas assets in the Western Canadian Sedimentary basin. His Project Management Professional (PMP) credential recognizes his knowledge and skill in leading and directing project teams and in delivering project results within the constraints of schedule, budget, and resources.

Nicholas Haddow

Mr. Haddow is a skilled and knowledgeable project manager and regulatory specialist, holding a Juris Doctrate from the University of California, Los Angeles, as well as a Civil Engineering Technologist diploma from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). He has supported clients in design, approvals and regulatory interaction in all phases of energy projects in multiple jurisdictions, including the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER), B.C Oil and Gas Commission (OGC) and Saskatchewan Ministry of Economy (SME). Mr. Haddow has provided cradle to grave support for a variety of projects throughout Western Canada that has included land acquisition under the Public Lands Act, stakeholder relations and public consultation in Alberta, SK and BC, including licenses under AER Directive 56, 58, 51 and 65, EPEA renewals, Minister’s Orders and Waste Processing Facilities under SME and well, facility, pipelines and Section 75 Special Projects under the OGC. Mr. Haddow’s attention to detail and ability to streamline and simplify complex legal documents are a valuable strength for any project team.
